Advanced RPAS/UAS training
The UAS/RPAS sector is seen as a rising technological value, oriented to multiple services in the civil and military fields. Their thriving incursion leads them to be increasingly necessary in technological applications in basic sectors for civil society, not to mention their systematic use in the military field. We can assure that it is a technology of the "present", whose projection of future development is extraordinary, which motivates a periodic update of the contents taught in this Master.
The excellent opportunity to have, a few kilometers from the University of Huelva, the El Arenosillo Experimentation Center (CEDEA), the only European center for the certification and homologation of unmanned aircraft and the main Spanish aerospace port, led a few years ago to the launching of this training project to provide Spanish and foreign university students with advanced knowledge about RPAS/UAS and other technologies in the aerospace sector.
Not to mention the Test Center for Unammed Systems (CEUS), the largest and best equipped complex in Europe for testing, training and development of unmanned aircraft, where students of our master's degree can enjoy their practical training.
Learn where breakthroughs are born
The CEDEA and CEUS is integrated in the National Institute of Aerospace Technology (INTA), attached to the Ministry of Defense. One of INTA's most ambitious projects has been the creation of the Center of Excellence for Medium and Large Unmanned Aerial Systems (CEUS). It is currently the largest UAS/RPAS Development Center in Europe (experimentation, research, standardization, homologation, certification, qualification and valorization), whose works were recently completed in mid-2024. In addition, the CEDEA performs qualifications and certifications of all types of airborne and unmanned aerial platforms; moreover, the CEDEA has become the aerospace port of the European Union, from where the rockets that will put public and private sub and orbital systems into space will be launched, as the famous "Miura 1" rocket was launched in October 2023.
Eight launches per year are foreseen. All these scientific-technological innovations and many others, in addition to the institutional support of INTA, provide the Master in High Performance UAS/RPAS of the University of Huelva with unique field practice facilities in real environments at international level, as well as expert staff of the highest level.
You will be trained in an environment of enormous potential in the fields of research, development, project acquisition and business opportunities, something that is highly valued by the different administrations and companies in the aerospace sector.
RPAS technology
RPAS/UAS are occupying more and more application sectors, offering services and performances that were unthinkable until very recently: suborbital satellite systems, radio communication and long range systems, infrastructure inspection, atmospheric research, topography, risk and natural disaster management, fire detection and assistance, environmental control, wildlife research, fish stock location, electric power transmission network monitoring, precision agriculture, security and defense, etc.
Drones that inspire new ideas
Not to mention that they are becoming indispensable tools in sectors linked to leisure, entertainment and culture: historical monument recognition, filming of movies, sports photography, game control, etc.
We cannot forget either that RPAS/UAS are fostering the development of complementary technologies, not necessarily specific to the aeronautical field, which are becoming essential for their development: communications, propulsion, energy, sensors, telemetry, etc. A specific example is that of fuel cells, whose development and application to unmanned systems is considerably increasing their flight autonomy expectations.
MULTIDISCIPLINARY MASTER'S DEGREE IN ADVANCED UAS
Open to all profiles
For these reasons, this Master's Degree includes a large number of specialties that may seem complementary (civil engineering, agronomy, forestry, mining, ...), but which are as necessary for our companies as the usual ones (aerospace, telecommunications, computer science, electronics, mechanics, physics, mathematics, ...) and also professionals oriented to the application of services or interested in the field of business management.
History, present and future of RPAS
- Origin of the first RPAS
- Analysis of an emerging sector
